Bartók’s Romanian Folk Dances were originally written in 1915 as a suite for solo piano, though he later orchestrated the six pieces for small orchestra. It is based on seven Romanian tunes from Transylvania, which would originally have been played on a fiddle or shepherd’s flute. Here, Petru Iuga has arranged the suite for double bass and piano.
