Giovanni Paisiello’s duet ‘Nel cor più non mi sento’ (In my heart I no more feel) has enjoyed a long life of being used for variations by many composers, including Beethoven, Paganini, Vanhal, Dragonetti, and, of course, Bottesini. Bottesini’s version is a characteristic show of the double bass’s soloistic capabilities, growing from a simple version of the tune played in harmonics, to virtuosic arpeggios and leaps. In this new edition by Leon Bosch, a number of helpful suggestions for fingerings and bowings are given to aid the performer in learning this piece. Piano parts are available in solo and orchestral tuning.
