Paganini – Caprice

Niccolò Paganini’s set of 24 caprices for solo violin are a staple of the repertoire, and one of his most iconic compositions. The 24th caprice is particularly well-known, and its theme has been used in variations by composers including Brahms, Chopin, Liszt, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Lutosławski, Rachmaninov, and Szymanowski. In this new version for double bass by Petru Iuga, this caprice has been kept as close as possible to the original whilst making the work playable on the double bass. A real showpiece!
