Tchaikovsky – Andante Cantabile

Tchaikovsky’s Andante Cantabile was originally the slow movement of his String Quartet No. 1, but was arranged by the composer for cello and strings in 1888. Since then, it has become a popular solo piece in its own right, and has been transcribed for a number of instruments. This version for double bass and piano by Petru Iug

a retains the beautiful tranquil quality of the original and is a lovely piece to add to a recital, without being too virtuosic.
