Vanhal’s Double Bass Concerto is a staple in the repertoire, and a major concerto for the instrument from the Classical era. The work has been preserved in orchestral parts in the estate of Classical double bass virtuoso Johannes Sperger, who appears to have made a number of his own adjustments to the part. The concerto is presented here in a way playable on the modern double bass, with piano accompaniments available in both C and D major.
