Part of our Short Vocal Work Collection, Marcia Trionfale (Triumphal March) is a significant feature of the second act of Verdi’s opera Aida. The march is typical of opera of the period, allowing for grand spectacle as Radames leads the Egyptian army in its victorious return from battle. Conventionally, this scene features massed extravaganza, including horses marching across the stage. Originally for a large brass-heavy opera orchestra, this work has been transcribed and simplified by Valentina Ciardelli for double bass and piano, in both solo and orchestral tuning, at an intermediate level from her Virtuoso opera fantasies. www.valentinaciardelli.com
